    I work for customer service for a company in this video, not going to say which one, but its not HP haha... Thing is, about the roosters... It's an ongoing issue since we started working from home, the agents are mostly in central america and here it is very normal for some people to have roosters and chickens. I don't have myself but I've heard complains from 6 different customers that heard chickens and roosters in the background of previous agents. It's hilarious.

    Hi. About ten years ago, I worked for an outsourcing company here in the Philippines. I was a QA that handled a couple of Dell sales accounts. I couldn't help myself from cringeing hard while watching the part where Dell took on your secret shopper. Describing it as embarrassing is an understatement. Long story short, the rep pretty much represents the average Dell rep with about a month's worth of training: short on product knowledge and people skills, but big on the sales push. Why is it like that? Dell doesn't want reps to sell "empty boxes:" bare bones computers without high-margin stuff like extended warranties, bloatware, and substantial hardware upgrades. Dell will also want its reps to push for financing, and I think you already know why. Reps are people, too, and they normally won't shove any of abovementioned stuff down customers' throats. They are the way they are because, 1, they're under a lot of constant pressure to sell these, with quotas and performance reviews always in the horizon, or 2, they might want to ask the meaningful questions you're looking for, but they risk going over the acceptable AHT (average handling time), while sinking into a quicksand of questions they won't be able to answer, or 3, they're incentivised. Then, there's the culture thing. Judging from the sales rep's accent, she's most likely from the Hyderabad site, and from what I have observed, Indians are not exactly known for being in tune with Western sensibilities. Filipino reps fare a lot better in this regard, and they tend to be less pushy. Either way, you still won't like how they'll handle your call in general. There will be a few exceptions every now and then, but they tend to get promoted and taken off the floor, or move on to a better paying job real fast. Regardless of where the rep is calling from, very few have actual working knowledge of the stuff they're selling. Most have non-IT backgrounds. We're talking about former nurses, teachers, real estate agents, entertainers, even geodetic engineers. They go through a month's worth of training, learning just a bit more than what's written in the brochure. Once these reps go live, they pretty much learn more about the products they're selling on the fly. Ask them what a particular desktop's motherboard's chipset is, or how many RAM slots it has, or what its PSU's wattage is, or even what FPS stands for, and they'll be fumbling frantically in search of answers. Different reps might wind up giving you different answers. It's best to stick to asking these folks about the number of USB ports a particular Dell computer has, they know that for sure. I know all these, because I'm speaking from my experience as being one of them. I quickly realized how hilariously ill-equipped I was for the job the moment I had a customer ask me if a Dell Inspiron 530 can handle virtualization. I didn't have you, CScrone or a clue to turn to for an answer. I sheepishly asked the customer to stay on the line, so I can look for a products trainer who may or may not know the answer to that question. It took me about five minutes to find a trainer, who in turn took fifteen minutes to look for the answer. After another ten minutes, I gave the customer the best rendition of the gibberish the trainer handed to me. No idea if my answer was the right one. It's that bad. I always took note of the hard questions customers threw at me, and did my best to scour for the answers online at home. That was the best I could do for my next customers. Others did that too, in varying degrees. To be fair to all Dell reps, they want to make their customers happy with the service they provide. It's just that they're woefully out of their depth. When I got the QA gig, I always made an effort to drill into the reps' heads that customers seeked them out to have that human connection. If the reps won't even act like the humans they were, then what's the point of having them around? I'm not sure if Dell ever saw things like that, but it pulled out from the outsourcing company a few years after I left. I heard that Hyderabad got 100% of Dell's business, because they're cheaper. Watching this video of yours was disheartening, but it confirmed what I always believed in: if you cheap out on something, you get something of equal or lesser value in return. In this case, they got crap from you. Oh well, so much for Dell.

    I'm on my second Maingear machine, and I can't recommend them enough if you want someone else to do the building for you. The entire process was first rate, from the initial configuring, fine tuning the selection based on budget and need and timely delivery. The builds themselves are flawless. I am going to take my current machine in for a total rebuild very soon.

    Bought an rtx 2060 prebuilt on sale for $800 USD from dell and somehow got 1 year of McAfee and 1 year of hardware support that cost around $50 extra that I didn’t opt for. Contacted dell and was told it was included even though in the quote the pc itself is $749 and the services are listed as being about $25 each. Oh well. Got a good deal.

    it is clear to see that Dell is pushing sales per product. Impossible to have a good client experience. That person on the phone is struggling to pay for their life and this is what creates those pressure sales. On top of that, I guarantee you that all of this is the same exact script every time. The agents barely have any input. Linus, you need to keep exposing this. This is just the tip of the iceberg. They are using agents as middle person so when it goes wrong they can easily put the blame on training. The truth is that they keep a blind eye to these practices when people are not making videos about them. Pay the employees enough so they do not care about sales. Its that simple. Anything else is based on an impossible eutopia.

    Don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this, but Dell kinda did the ‘right’ thing by asking about extras like extended warranty first, so they can remove that from the budget before looking at hardware costs. Unfortunately, their sales rep was underknowledged (not a word) and unhelpful to the customer.

    As a former tech support rep for Dell (2007-2014) as an outsourced contractor, I can tell you that Dell has to validate authority to make any action on the account. This is done by validating the caller's name and a second piece of user information to do so. Dell was explicit about this practice. I can also tell you the outsource providers have their own rules layered on top of the Dell mandated rules. Also, the sales teams have 0, that is zero, technical understanding. They have pre-defined sales pitches, and I can tell you this rep is typical of the people I had to deal with from time to time. I can't say for sure on the amount; but, the outsource providers get a kickback on sales. When we made sales through tech support, we (US based tech support) weren't paid any commission. Only our company was. So, we never tried to sell you anything above what we thought would be in your best interest. The 3-year onsite warranty definitely cost $200-$300 or more and McAfee was free and probably couldn't be removed from the PC configuration as the purchase was made through Dell Home sales. Contractual obligations. Best advice, get to North American Pro-Support and tell them you want to buy a computer. If they try and transfer you tell them that their "handle in place" policy should alow them to build a configuration using the website and importing the quote into their sales software. Unless their tools our down, which happened a lot. For reasons I probably cannot disclose.

    I know you guys are doing this for your show but I'm more stubborn and most of these fucks wouldnt have got 2 cents from me. Especially the ones that dont even want to help at all and just direct you to a website and leave you on your own. The worst part of all this is that this is basically almost every single customer support system in every single business in every single store no matter what youre buying. Just PATHETIC.

    Apart from the long wait time for the IBuyPower I had a great experience with them. I’d rather wait a little longer and have a professional who knows what they’re talking about then getting out sourced.

    I paused the video after the Dell call/purchase, and I can't believe my eyes/ears. Dell repeatedly not listening to the customers desires, and then upselling on everything but the most important part of the gaming pc, the video card. Terrible. HP CS seemed better, but we didnt get to see the PC specs offered, and I didnt hear any kind of questions being asked. Maybe that part was cut from the video. A much better video card, less sales pressure, and quicker hold times equate to a better experience no doubt. IBuyPower were straight to the point, and offered great specs for the money. Hold time is rough. Then with the technical issues on top of that, yeesh! Dell is still by and far the worst this far. Cyberpower website seemed great with the customization options, but the CS person assumed they were speaking to someone who was tech savvy, even though Sarah was requesting recommendations. Definite fail there. Origin CS was fantastic. Very cheery and welcoming. The system specs were way under par. Most closely matched with Dell. Pretty disappointing overall. Corsair - loss of customer due to technical support problems. That hurts. Main gear seemed like a good overall experience. Kind and helpful CS, reasonable system specs, and good hold times. Nice job. NZXT - I guess you don't need my money. I'll spend it elsewhere then. Thanks!

    dell pc specs i7 10th gen gtx 1660ti 500w psu 2000$ a little much i could get a twice as good digital storm pc for half the price wtf dell alienware and no glass side pannel what i could get a computer with a rtx 3080 i9 9900k and a asus z490 motherboard for that price and a 1tb instead of a 500gb ssd in a not prebuilt system yeah

    I recently built a PC through Cyberpower PC website and it has an unlocked 10th gen i9, rtx 3070, 32gb ram, and 1tb nvme boot drive in a crazy RGB case for about the budget used in this video. So Dell shipping out a 1660ti is completely unacceptable in my opinion.
