All these "disruptive" companies actually prove that good old regular companies already offer products at competitive prices. Seems the only thing they can ever accomplish in price cutting is either quality cutting across the board, or abysmal quality control where you really don't know what you will get. I'll just keep buying from LG or Asus or whatever

My Gigabyte G32QC is pretty nice, 1440p at 165hz. HDR10 but average in brightness, 350 cd/m2. But it's good for gaming and great color reproduction.

Zisworks has been selling 27" 4k panels that run 4k120hz, 1080p240hz, 720p360hz for many years. They have a kit for 39" VA panels with the same specs. Not forgetting they have Scan backlight with true blur reduction

I remember seeing their ads on Facebook since last year in January. They would originally promise it to be ready by q3 2020 lol I would get their ads literally every week because Facebook knew I was clicking on the ad and reading the comments. It always came off as too good to be true.

Both acer and aorus have 1440p 240hz and the aorus fi27qx has 99% argb too so those are still better than the asus and ultrawide you mentioned.

I have seen this issue with games also, such as those found on Paytreon and Steam too. I have gotten into supporting a few, and all of them years after are still in early development, with no real sign on being complete within my lifetime. Or the project got dropped, and is never going to be finished. Too many are just taking the money, without putting in the effort to earn it, in a far amount of time, after it was given. However there was two games I only thought bout supporting, but didn't, that actually got finished, for the most part. they are still having content added to them, but they finished games. That be, No Man's Sky. And Them's Fighting Herds. both of witch I now have, well after they both got finished. Currently, for this reason, I prefer to get a finished game, than an early WIP, that you never can tell is ever going to be made.

There is an important point however.The others are already done and on sale.This kickstarter unit can be delayed until they get the parts at a lower cost.So we cannot judge any of this until they actually call their monitor a finished product and then compare the rest of the market at THAT TIME.

Eve is just the classic case of "Why is nobody doing this? Can't be that difficult" just to find out that, yeah, it isn't that easy and they're not up to the task. What a surprise.

If EVE can't manufacture their own panels to make this product happen at this price point and needs to source panels from LG (yes, I know many companies source panels from LG and Samsung, but most of them aren't trying to compete directly with them in the same segments either), it should be obvious that it's not that LG, Samsung, et al. aren't bothering to try to develop a comparable product, which seems to be the only thing that EVE could possibly be banking on to make their product worthwhile. That, or EVE has some innovative proprietary technology that allows them to manufacture monitors much less expensively which the others don't have access to, and that clearly isn't the case either. It's clear that the technology behind the manufacturing of these displays isn't sufficiently developed to sustain this product at this price point - the cost to manufacture displays with these capabilities is just too high no matter who you are - and EVE is therefore even less equipped to bring this product to market than any manufacturer which is more vertically integrated. They're louder and market themselves to seem cooler than LG, but they're stuck working more on LG's timeline than their own. We'll probably see LG and a few others bring a comparable product to market well before EVE launches theirs, or possibly around a similar time, at a comparable price, and with much less fanfare. Because for those other companies, this is simply what they do, and this is a logical iterative upgrade as technology marches on - and it's THEIR innovations driving the march, not EVE's. EVE shouldn't get credit for announcing that they'll DEFINITELY nail it! ...as soon as LG's product which EVE relies on gets cheap enough to make improved products that LG would be launching anyway. And... well, it's a safe bet that on LG's version, at least most of the buttons will probably work, at least most of the time.

Kickstarter = A way to give Communist China your "American Dream" ideas. It really is just a dream at this point to manufacture a new idea without someone else stepping in and just making the idea. It has to be something you can patent or something that is too much trouble for them to do at a scale they would want.

The thing is, EVE does not make screens, they don't manufacture them. They buy them. And you know how this product was concieved? They found out that some factory in China started producing panels for LG or someone and as it is in China you can sign a contract and buy them as well. Sure you can tweak software, make your own industrial design and such. But the thing that makes this screen a screen - the screen - stays the same. So in other words - the moment they announced this monitor, LG already was manufacturing panels for their own product that they didn't yet advertise. So the only advantage of Eve was that they announced the product before it was ready.

One life less learned long ago: Software and hardware are both actually vapor ware until delivered in a retail form. Second lesson is that technology is always moving, and today's promise is tomorrow's quaint idea from the past. Monitors are particularly a problem, because most companies don't make their own panels. So they are limited to what is out there, and cannot do any better. So at best, they will have a product that will have comparable specs to a more mainstream company's top model. High end, cutting edge stuff is just not part of the game.

@Draco Flame You can google their past with the surface pro competitor, they completed less than 5% of orders and left the rest with no refunds It's not worth the headache of getting an Eve just to save like 150-200, just get one from an established brand if you're really not convinced, go to the r/evev subreddit and see what people there are saying

I really, really like the design of that monitor, as well as the menu. If it was only 5:4 instead of widescreen, I might actually want to buy it! It doesn't seem to have too many logos or annoying proprietary software nonsense, and that is what I look for out of computer hardware.
