This is in regards to the Nvidia controversy. Where do I start...... In an effort to drum up subscribers and in an effort to show people that Nvidia doesn't just play nice with Nvidia shill's, Hardware Unboxed and Nvidia drummed up a controversy about Nvidia trying to strong arm your content. Their channel hadn't seen as much of a boom as other tech channels during the pandemic and Nvidia wanted their channel to be popular so they could use you review as one of their headlines for raytracing. To drum up a false controversy which plays on peoples emotions, which I now everyone else does, may be ingenious but extremely low. The proof is what happened after, their subscribers were stagnate compared to other CScroner's and Nvidia was getting slammed in rasterization which HU made a big deal about and raytracing, which they mentioned once and would come in a follow up video about the 3080. Afterward the letter was leaked and more popular youtubers caught wind of it , they more then doubled their subscribers and Nvidia had the focus back on raytracing.

Reminder: nVidia's business strategy to beat 3Dfx and putting them out of business was: running to gaming studios discrediting the Voodoo technology, and opening up a datasheet spec war against 3Dfx about color depth and other, at that time, "nonsense" features, so that gaming reviews wrote more and more critical about 3Dfx ...despite most of the Riva TNT's and TNT 2's features not resulting in recognizably better picture quality over Voodoo 2 or Voodoo 3 but always lacking fps against 3Dfx. It took nVidia until the GeForce 2 to catch up to 3Dfx (at that point renamed to 3dfx) in terms of raw performance. nVidia was and is the fucking Empire from Star Wars!

its funny i noticed this gpu launch every reviewer except harware unboxed used raytracing for more than half of their benchmarks. why is anyone benchmarking control? who plays control? control is basically a nvidia sponsored benchmark. you are a shill linus and this nividia letter proves. lmao this satire but kind of not really.

so this letter got sent out after steves review of the 6900xt? maybe nvidias a little sour abt the 6900xt being within a few percent for 30% less money. personally im done with nvidia and intel. currently have a 2080ti and 9900k. had to do a preorder from cyber to get the parts but i got a 6900xt and 5900x on the way. intel and nvidia are going to need 10 15 percent leads over amd before i pay for their overpriced shit again.

This issue understandably matters a lot to content creators, but as a consumer, I couldn't care less about it, since I just do what consumers always do: we decide ahead of time how much we're willing to spend, then buy the best-performing card available in our price range at the time. The politics surrounding the relationship between media outlets and manufacturers puts me to sleep.

If you are downsampling to offer proper performance your tech is not ready. Adaptive shading is way more important than dlss, specially with ultrawide monitors. They can keep their overpriced gpus.

Idk if this was the cause. But i got prompted from a game i play to upgrade graphics driver and a week later i got green lines on whole screen, cept title strip on top of screen is still perfect. Card is mx130. Did their update screw my screen?

Wow NVidia just sunk even lower in my eyes. Once I get a chance to build my own pc both Nvidia and Intel are off my list. First reason for that are prices ,second policy third one goes for nvidia only and it's related to their driver and from what i saw both mobile and regular pc drivers are stiff in terms of customization and what kind of options they offer. Laptop i currently use has amd's processor and mobile gpu and is way better than intel's and nvidia's. I also still have my old hp laptop that has intel's cpu and nvidia's mobile gpu and difference betwwen both is big. Amds support for socket lasts longer while intel changes sockets say every 2-3 years. I mean it's been long time since ryzen series showed up for the first time they supported am4 socket since and they still do.

Thank god someone is finally saying what i have been saying about Reviewers, they are not advertisers, these two things are separate. Here in the US advertisement blatantly lie (in some cases) or Dangerously come close to lying (most cases). Reviewers are only as good as there honesty, depth, insight. There is integrity required to be a reviewer, they are not advertisers, the job of a reviewer is realistic application to reflect reality (this include the education of the product). It is not to be a puppet. In other words if you have a crap product DO NOT EXPECT PRAISE, if you have a weakness do not dare to dream that it will be swept under the carpet. "Go Buy A Mouse Pad ..." -Linus the timing of this just made me laugh. If Nivida or any other company is reading this, i should point out I would rather wait for a review than buy a piece of shit product.

I'm not a fan of LTT reviews. But I have recently watched a few vids of Linus as a person (this one being the latest) and OMG I have to say, he grew miles in my eyes! Even though I might not like the style he makes his content but the fact that he is THE de facto big fish in computer parts reviews and seeing the humility how he deals with this situation is truly respectable. Linus, you are a great person. Power like yours should be used like this to make the world an even better and just place.

Nvidia is just copying what the AAA game industry has been doing for a loooong time. It sucks, but there are too many unable to acknowledge flaws in these companies for them to stop doing it.

This sounds exactly like what Jim sterling has been complaining (rightly so, imho) about on the gaming side of things for ages now. Yeah these companies want control of what you say about their product. Personally, I dont care about raytracing because I do not play any title that us it. Should thay situation change my opinion will change accordingly. To each their own imho.

This is very reminiscent of radios Payola Scandal in early 1960. That, "pay to play" scandal led to legislation that made this type of unethical transaction a criminal act.
