I'm no ring fanboy - their automatic light/camera combos suck a giant 8====> - but this isn't technically right. With no subscription you can see live video, you simply can't keep your videos . Which is EQUALLY AS USELESS AS HAVING A SUBSCRIPTION. So the end result is the same, just not quite right on the details. Teach me, wise one 😂

First off, the doorbell transformer is 24v so not enough to shock you. No need to turn the power off. Also, the doorbell wasn't working after the install because the transformer is too small and isn't delivering enough power to operate the doorbell camera and the chime. Upgrade it or do what I did and ditched the doorbell and powered my Unifi doorbell camera off of PoE.

Hey guys, I have a ring given by my daughter. I told her that I heard about Unifi doorbell. I'm aware about the cloud storage which means we'll have to pay for it. With Unifi, we pay nothing. What other reasons that I should go with Unifi?

I wished Ubi would make a small form factor 16 POE switch and a small form factor dream machine. I would buy a ton of their cameras and AP for my house networks but i want to use my old telephone / cable box space instead of installing a 2U vertical server rack.

There is a lot to like about Ubiquiti’s CCTV products but there are two things that make this a “not recommended” for us: 1. ) The ridiculously high prices for a camera made in China (granted this is like everyone else these days but Ubiquiti’s pricing is pretty much the top end) and 2.) The closed ecosystem (none of the equipment is ONVIF compliant, at least that we can tell by looking in the spec sheets).

At work, we’re going to switch out EVERYTHING with ubiquity. We’re so tired of different brands not working properly together, the network is down/slow 50% of the time. It’s a travasty. Now compared to other enterprise smart switches, the ones ubiquity has are dirt cheap in comparison. It’s perfect

Oh yeah the amazeballs Unifi line of equipment... can't even do simple GUI driven one to one mapping to a /29 from my ISP with with either the DMP or the USG! So frustrating that the products are great at so many things but suck at some of the simplest obvious features you really need.

My UniFi doorbell may be my favorite piece of Ubiquiti hardware I've ever bought. Same price as a good Ring, and zero subscription fees? SOLD! (this assumes you already have the back end hardware needed for it, of course, but I did)
